Another Family Helped! We are very happy to share some news to translate the impact that your incredible support is making. The total HS4H numbers below are through February 2021 and are provided by our Social Work Director, Roosevelt Travis. His team administrates the HS4H program internal to Children’s, meaning our guild raises the money with the intent to provide housing solutions for our patient families and Roosevelt’s team identifies the families based on selection criteria and then makes the grants to the families:

  • Housing grants awarded: $120,925.68
  • Number of families served: 69
  • Family size (avg. 3-4): approximately 250 people housed
  • Average award: $1,752.55
  • Maximum grant provided: $5,301.00
  • Median: $2,035.00

Just today, we received word that last week we helped our 70th family stay housed! This family is our first who we’ve helped to stay in a long-term lodging arrangement. Previously our grants have been directed towards helping families either move from a car or shelter into a house or remain housed by paying their monthly rent or mortgage. The HS4H grant creates a financial bridge for the family sufficient to reach a sustainable place on their own and stay housed.
