An introduction to Housing Solutions for Hope (HS4H) – A Guild for Seattle Children’s.
From Feb 1 to Feb 28, we are introducing a new Guild for Seattle Children’s – the first of its kind, one that will help patient families at Seattle Children’s with their housing needs.
Share The Love Event: Our Goal is to Raise $5,000 dollars in February 2019 to directly support patient families at Seattle Children’s, to pay their rent or mortgage for up to 3 months, so they can focus on their child’s recovery.
This is the first of its kind Guild that will focus on housing solutions for families in greatest need while at Seattle Children’s. The home is an extension of the family and being able to sustain housing needs is an important part of the patient’s recovery. We must help families keep a stable home environment and avoid homelessness.
Why: When a family is focused on helping their sick child, paying bills can be an afterthought and finances are often depleted. Our first goal is small and simple – keep 2-3 families in their current housing situation, so they can return HOME during and after their child’s procedure for complete healing.
- There are only so many open beds available at places like Ronald McDonald House, or at Seattle Children’s partner facilities.
- Did you know that many families with children at the hospital are from out of state, or out of the local area? These families often travel to Seattle Children’s everyday and may be living out of their car for days or weeks at a time.
Share The Love this February and make an impact by taking the financial burden off families so they can maintain their home, a true extension of their lives, and help their child heal.
