Helping Families at Seattle Children’s

Sharing is caring!

This is an update on how your donations and support have helped patient families at Seattle Children’s.

Since January 1st, we have launched Housing Solutions for Hope and have raised over $17,000 in donations, membership fees and pledges for patient families in need of housing while undergoing treatment at Seattle Children’s thanks to generous donors and guild members.

In the future, we hope to raise enough money through fundraisers, corporate donations, and grants to create new housing or build a housing complex.

In the interim, our goal is to keep families in their home. With the help of Seattle Children’s Social Work, we have already helped several families avoid homelessness. Here are examples of the types of struggles the families we help are facing:

  • Loss of income because a parent needs to stop working entirely or reduce work hours to be at their sick child’s bedside
  • Depleted savings
  • Depleted sick time hours at work
  • A young child in the hospital with complex medical conditions—and additional children to care for at home
  • Limited support of family or friends
  • Families who have spent months at the hospital for treatments
  • A child who has had to make multiple visits sometimes from out of state
  • A child whose condition requires continued home intensive care, often life long

We will continue to root for these families and their treatment at Seattle Children’s and are happy to make a difference in family’s lives with donations raised through Housing Solutions for Hope.

Your donations go directly to families like these, families who need housing while their ill children are being treated at Seattle Children’s. Donations could help provide support like a month or two of rent—which could be the difference between a family having time to rebuild their savings, find lower-cost housing or other solutions—or becoming homeless.

Housing Solutions for Hope aims to deliver safe, readily available housing solutions for Seattle Children’s patient families in greatest need. You can help these families focus on positive health care outcomes. You can help give them hope, care and cures through your support.
